Avatar 2 set to start filming

James Cameron’s Avatar became the highest-grossing movie in the world and now the plans are the works to make a sequel to the film.

Cameron has confirmed that he will make Avatar 2, 3, and 4 with the first sequel due to begin filming in October 2014. Avatar 2 will be released in December 2016 with the third installment to hit theatres in December 2017 and the final in December 2018.

Stephen Lang will reprise his role as Colonel Miles Quatrich, despite seeming to have died in the first Avatar film.

The first Avatar film was released in 2009 and made over $2.7 billion worldwide making it the biggest money earning film of all time and was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Director for Cameron. The award eventually went to Cameron’s ex-wife for directing The Hurt Locker.

It appears that former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzeneggar is interested in the films. It has been reported that he is being sought to play the role of a human general in the films.

The pair has previously worked on Terminator, Terminator 2, and True Lies together.

Sausage and Spinach Orecchiette

The orecchiette is a small ear-shaped pasta from Italy that would be ideal for certain recipes.

The Sausage and Spinach Orecchiette is one such dish. To prepare the orecchiette you will need /2 pound uncooked orecchiette or small tube pasta, 3 hot Italian turkey sausage links, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 2 garlic cloves, minced, 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 3 cups fresh spinach, 1/2 cup shreddedAsiago cheese, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup rinsed and drainedwhite kidney or cannellini beans, 1/4 cup chopped roasted sweet red pepper, and ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning.

First cook the pasta in a pot of lightly salted water until al dente. Add olive oil to the water to prevent the pasta from sticking.

The prepare first cook the sausage, onion, garlic, and pepper flakes in a large skillet over a medium flame for 6-8 minutes or until the sausage is well done and drain.Add the spinach and the cheese as well as beans, peppers, and Italian seasoning and continue to cook until the Spinach is done. Drain the pasta and add the sausage and toss and add extra cheese.

Lisbon Artists doing what they love

It isn’t always often that people get to do exactly what they want in lie but for Lisbon born DJ Marlon Silva, life has worked out and provided him the opportunity to do just that.

Silva, who goes by the moniker Marfox, grew up in the Portuguese capital wanting to be a DJ watching his father and cousin playing at parties and knowing that someday he would too.

The 25-year old Silva has earned kudos and respect in the neighbourhood since his emergence. His music is a mixture of just about everything from American to African to European but relies heavily on the African sounds of his heritage.

Marfox and his protégé DJ NIgga Fox are among of group of young electronic music DJ’s who work in the area including Jose Moura and Marcio Matos of Principe Discos.

Principe Discos releases Silva’s and Nigga Fox’s records… the debut 12’ was in 2012. The group which came together in 2005 has also spread their tunes abroad playing at the Unsound Music Festival in Krakow, Poland.

Other Lisbon artists that work with Marfox and Nigga Fox include The Maquinas Brothers, Pausas, and Fofuxo.

San Remo, five-card stud

Sanremo is a small enclave on the Mediterranean coast of Italy in an area of theItalian Riviera.

The city was founded in Roman times and is a very popular tourist destination known for its cycling and its music festival held there each year.

The city has its own casino and is believed to be the origin of the card game version five-card stud, called telesina. Among the places of interest in Sanremo are theMunicipal Casino, the Ariston Theatre, and the Municipal Casino’s Opera Theatre. The city is sometimes called The City of Flowers because of its important reliance on this part of its economy; the city has its own international flower market, and nearby cities also rely heavily on horticulture and plant flowers for the Sanremo market.

The Sanremo Music Festival is a must do each year, a contest which has been held since 1951 and there is also a song contest for authors, a flower parade, and aFirework International Contest held in August.

Other things to do include the Milan- Sanremo cycle race, the Sanremo Rally which is part of the World Rally Championship, and local Serie A football.

Sanremo’s cuisine is decidedly Italian and Taverna Al 29 is highly recommended serving Mediterranean cuisine. Ristorante Pizzeria Pagoda is also good for Italian fare.

The Isle of Wight, UK

The Isle of Wight is a small island off the south east coast of England and has been a home of the romantic poets including Alfred Lord Tennyson and Swinburne as well as the much-loved Queen Victoria.

The island hosts an annual international jazz music festival and a rock festival known as the Isle of Wight Festival. The island has some of the best conserved wildlife and fossils in the United Kingdom.

Some places of interest on the Isle of Wight include Newport which boasts the main shopping district, Ryde, which also hosts the Ryde Carnival each year, and Sandown which is a popular seaside report.

Some other places to see include the Classic Boat Museum, Blackgang Chine, and the Isle of Wight Bus Museum.

King’s Speech top UK real life film

King George VI was one of the UK’s favourite kings and now the movie about his life is the top British real life film.

The King’s Speech, which won British actor Colin Firth the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2011, has been named the top UK real life film in a poll conducted by American Express.

The film, directed by Tom Hooper, won 28 per cent of the votes.

The 2008 movie The Boys in the Striped Pyjamas which was directed by Mark Herman was the runner up while Steven Spielberg’s 2012 film Lincoln which tells the story of the American president was third.

Mark Zuckerberg’s story The Social Network which told about the emergence of Facebook was also in the running with 127 Hours, the story of a man trapped while mountain climbing was also in the running in fifth.

The poll was conducted at the end of last week’s London Film Festival which had several real life movies making their premiere.

The top ten in that order are 1. The King’s Speech, 2. The Boys in the Striped Pyjamas, 3. Lincoln, 4. The Social Netwrok, 5. 127 Hours, 6. Argo, 7. The Impossible, 8. The Blind Side, 9. Valkyrie, 10. Zero Dark Thirty.

Pizza pasta casserole

A casserole is a perfect one dish meal that can be both filling and tasty all at once. The pizza pasta casserole is one such dish. It brings together a perfect blend of ground beef, pasta, cheese, and sauce.

To prepare gather together 2 pounds of ground beef, 1 large onion, chopped, 3 ½ cups of spaghetti sauce, 1 package of spiral pasta, 4 cups of shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese, and 8 ounces of pepperoni.

To make, cook the pasta in a pot of lightly salted water with a few drops of olive oil to prevent sticking; once cooked, drain the pasta.

Next over a medium flame, in a large skillet, cook the beef with in olive oil until the meat is no longer pink. Add the cooked pasta and spaghetti sauce. Transfer the mixture to a 13 inch x 9 inch baking dish and add cheese.

Arrange the pepperoni on top of the casserole and cover and bake at 350 degrees F for about 25 to 30 minutes. You may freeze any leftover unbaked casserole.

When ready, thaw the frozen casserole overnight and bake at 350 degrees for up to 40 minutes.

Snowbombing festival lines up top artists

Snowbombing, the week-long festival held in the Austrian village of Mayrhofen each year, has already started to announce its line up for the next event in April 2014.

The festival, held high in the Alps, includes not only DJ’s and electronic musicbut also skiingsnowboarding, and music of the highest quality with world class acts and unique venues including an igloo high on the mountains. It’s basically a party in the snow.

Manchester is a city in North West England in Greater Manchester. It was historically in the county of Lancashire.

Electronic music is here to stay and new artists keep emerging every day. Mixmag website has put together a list of the finest new artists to watch.

They include E.M.M.A, Archie Pelago, Sonny Fodera, Sam Tiba, and CHVRCHES.

E.M.M.A is a UK producer whose track “Peridot” was featured on the compilation disc “This is How We Roll” on the Keysound label. She made her debut with the album “Blue Gardens” not long after.

Pelago’s sound is a mix of house music and jazz. The beat is highly ranked and Pelago has an upcoming collaboration with Distal. Twenty-seven year old Fodera already has produced an album on the Cajual Records label and will be releasing other records on Soul Heaven’s label soon.

Tiba is one of four DJ’s at Club Cheval who has his own EP, entitled “The Saddest Show in Town”.

CHVRCHES is an Independent sound Scottish group that has worked with several rock and indie bands. Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin ‘Doc’ Docherty are the persons that make up the band and they have already seen success on the UK charts. Their album “The Bones of What You Believe” was released on the Virgin label in September.
