Stewart out, new love in for Robert Pattinson

robert_pattinson

It’s out with the old and in with the new and for Twilight star Robert Pattinson. After splitting from his much-publicised romance with fellow Twilight star Kristen Stewart earlier this year, the British actor is said to be hanging out and hooking up with another starlet, Riley Keough.

Pattinson and Stewart broke up a few months ago, not long after Stewart admitted to having an affair with Rupert Sanders, the married director of Snow White and the Huntsman.

The 22-year old Stewart has reportedly already met Pattinson’s new love, albeit by chance. Stewart ran into Keough at a Joan Jett concert at West Hollywood’s House of Blues. The pair previously worked together in the movie The Runaways in 2010. The film was a biopic of Jett’s life.

K-Stew is reported to have called Keough, who just happens to be the granddaughter of American rock legend Elvis Presley, and expressed her displeasure with the reported romance between herself and Pattinson.

Keough has in the meantime been spotted with her ex-boyfriend Alex Pettyfer while Pattinson’s car was spotted at Kristen Stewart’s house over the weekend.

Coldplay for Prince George

coldplay
Britain’s Prince William likes songs from home group Coldplay. The future King of England has revealed that he sings songs by Coldplay as lullabies to put his new son Prince George Alexander Louis to sleep.

It seems the 31-year old William himself is not a fan of the Chris Martin-led group but has found that Coldplay hits such as Yellow and Paradise are what the new baby responds to most and what gets him to sleep at all hours of the night. Insiders say the baby is up as many as six times a night, something for which the Prince was not prepared.

Singing to the third in line to the throne was something the Duke of Cambridge did before Prince George emerged from the womb. He also used to sing to wife Kate Middleton’s pregnant belly. “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “Go To Sleep My Baby” were the favourite tunes before Prince George’s birth on July 22.

Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their new son have been staying in Bucklebury in the county of Berkshire with Middleton’s parents since two days after the baby was born last month. Middleton’s parents Carole and Michael it seems are not fond of the late night singing.

Prince William made his first public appearance since George’s birth at a charity polo match on Sunday.

Cyprus, Mediterranean paradise

Cyprus
Very mild winters and warm dry summers make the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea a hotspot for tourists. The island gets almost twice the sunshine of cities in Northern Europe with as many as 12-13 hours of sun during the summertime.

Cyprus sits south of Turkey and east of Greece and is the third largest island in the Mediterranean. The island of Cyprus is divided into Greek and Turkish rule and is unique in that it is the only one which has a divided capital city – Nicosia. Nicosia is divided by a “green line” with part in Turkish Cyprus and part in Greek Cyprus. The city is surrounded by a Venetian wall.

International flights arrive at Larnaca International Airport in the south of the island. The island is mountainous in the north and south with plains in the centre while there are also plains on the island’s southern coast.

There are many archaeological sites scattered across Cyprus that date from the Stone Age through the Roman Empire and the island also boasts a beautiful coastline.

Cyprus is a great place to buy leather goods including shoes and handbags, jewellery, lacework from the village of Lefkara, and Cypriot wine. It boasts interesting cuisine and meze, a dish that can be made from meat or fish, is a must try.

Crepe suzette, desert with a twist

crepes_suzette
Nothing says “France” quite like a crepe. The wafer thin pancake is a staple of French cuisine as a desert that can be enjoyed at home or away.

The crepe Suzette adds a little more romance to the classic crepe with its sauce of beurre Suzette made from caramelised sugar and butter, tangerine or orange juice, zest, and Grand Marnier or orange Curaçao liqueur served flambé.

The crepe can be made from scratch or store bought but for a more authentic flavour homemade is best. All that is needed are 2 large eggs, 3/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1 cup flour, 3 tablespoons melted butter, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, 2 tablespoons of liqueur, and butter to coat the pan.

Blend eggs, flour, milk, until it will pour smoothly from a mixing bowl. Put batter in the fridge. Heat a frying pan with sweet butter and pour in batter to cover the bottom of the pan. Tip the pan from side to side to allow the batter to spread thinly. After a minute, turn the pancake upside down, then turn it again, until brown. Fold crepes in a triangular shape and store.

To make the Sauce Suzette, melt 1/4 butter in a saucepan, after it has boiled, add combination of liqueurs and orange and lemon zest.

Pour sauce over crepes, add brandy and light. When crepe is cool it is ready to serve.
