The “checked card”: keeping the tab on what you read

For some time now you have been asking for features to improve the user-experience related with managing the quasi-infinite content we distribute on the site (we now publish more than 50,000 new content posts per month, related to any interest you can imagine).

From today, you have one more nifty feature to do that: we will show on your Updates feed all the articles that you have already read, so that you can visually see what’s left to read. Nothing too fancy: just a classy shading and a check mark.

Our team has been using the feature for few days, and it seems to make quite a difference, without being visually too “loud”. We hope you will appreciate this new added feature. As usual, we love to hear your feedback, so just let us know (by writing to us at support at circleme dot com, tweeting us @circleme or commenting on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CircleMeTeam).

Enjoy the ‘checked card’ feature now!

CircleMe integrates with Spotify

On CircleMe there are now over 90,000 pages on music legends, rock bands, genres and singers. Any music interest that you can think of (from Lady Gaga to Giuseppe Verdi, from Adele to Pink Floyd, from Freddie Mercury to Dubstep or Hip-Hop) has probably a page on our platform.

From today, for the vast majority of these pages dedicated to Music, we have integrated also the fantastic Spotify service. Here below you can see how the Spotify integration looks like. A vertical card containing a playlist (provided by Spotify API’s) related to the specific music topic.

As you visit any interest page dedicated to Music, you might encounter any of these cards. In that case, to hear some music about that singer, band or genre of music, just click on the PLAY button and enjoy the stream (of course you have to signup to Spotify to use the service, but who wouldn’t want this awesome service, right?!).

Remember also that you can always use also our iTunes(TM) player and click on the button to go purchase the tracks directly on the iTunes Store(TM).

Movie Reviews: check!

Did you mark some movies as ToDo’s on CircleMe (or you just did a Like for them)? Well, if you did… good job!

By doing this, you get lots of cool benefits as a consequence. You can find the movie in your Personal Calendar (here an example for the CircleMe Team user), when it’s releasing in your city. You can receive news on the actors, sequels, little scoops and gossip, and so on. Last, but surely not least, thanks to a great integration with Rotten Tomatoes(tm) now you can also get a great review of the movie, from the public and the critic, with some specific viewers comments and of course a link to Rotten Tomatoes(tm) to read more about the motion picture.

As an example, here is the review card for the movie The Devil Wears Prada:

Sure that thousands of cinema fans will love this new addition to the Movies category, we wish you a great “cinematic experience” on CircleMe!

CircleMe in Italiano!

An Italian speaker would say “Fantastico!”. Yes, because from today our beloved CircleMe platform on the web is fully translated in Italian. Any user of CircleMe from today will be able to set the user-interface to Italian just by visiting their settings and selecting Italian as the preferred language. We have already prepared more than 5,000 interests, 30,000 posts and 6,000 calendar events for our Italiano’s :).

Why Italian before other more popular languages? For a couple of reasons: on one side, Italy is the second most active country on CircleMe after the USA and just before the UK: on the other side, our company has strong roots in Italy and proudly we want all Italian-only speakers to be able to enjoy our platform to the fullest.

CircleMe in Italiano

With today we kick-off hopefully a process to localize our application in as many languages as possible, and as soon as we can. We have received requests to translate CircleMe in Spanish, French, Portuguese (BR), German, Thai and many other languages. We are a small team, so please be patient with us. If, on the contrary, you cannot wait for CircleMe to be translated in YOUR language and you want to help us, just write us a note at info [at] circleme.com and we will be super-grateful to welcome you as a “localization supporter”. 🙂

And now… enjoy our BELLISSIMO CircleMe!

It’s CircleMe TRIVIA time!

On CircleMe we have thousands of very passionate people, about any topic you can think of. Well, with the summer time and a little bit of extra time free, we thought to throw in a little fun TRIVIA game for all our passionate users (and anyone else, actually).

You can play immediately here: http://circleme.com/trivia (see some rules below the picture)

Are you a guru on a specific topic? Do you feel no one is as passionate as you about something? Show us “you can walk the walk”! Challenge yourself with the first 10 quizzes we launched today. Prove you are the GURU and rank #1 on our score list. Choose from topics such as Star Wars, Daft Punk, Quentin Tarantino, great movie directors, Game of Thrones, the Football World Cup, and many others. We will also upload new trivia quizzes based on your suggestions (tell us what you’d like to see by writing to us at support [at] circleme dot com, or using the suggest button on the CircleMe Trivia page).

CircleMe Trivia

Anyone can play CircleMe Trivia. You do not need to be registered to CircleMe. If you then want to be ranked against other users, or if you want to challenge your friends, then you can SignUp (in less than 1 minute!).

Note few more things on the Trivia game:

1) The score will be calculated based on the % of correct answers you will give (over the total) and also considering the time factor (we just want to make sure you don’t go on Wikipedia to find out every answer ;-p).

2) You can play one specific quiz only once. Since we show the answers, wouldn’t be smart to make you play twice, would it?

3) Rankings will be updated always in real-time so you can always check on how you are doing vs your friends. Make sure you spread the word and see who is the real “guru” of a specific topic.

We will be updating the quizzes and introducing new ones weekly, so keep on checking the page. Even if you don’t do well on the first trivia quizzes, you’ll be able to catch up in a future one, no worries.

So, ready to discover if you are a GURU at any topic, or you’re just a “wanna be”? Go now, play, and challenge your friendshttp://circleme.com/trivia

Viva CircleMe (Android) in Italiano!

Federico Fellini, a great Italian director, used to say: “A different language is a different vision of life.” With this in mind, today we are really excited to launch our first version of CircleMe (Android) in Italian. OK sure, feel free to tell us “Bravissimi!” 😉

We release this ‘local’ version of CircleMe after 4 months from our official launch of CircleMe for Android, which was really successful and saw incredible reviews by publishers such as The Guardian (UK) (“Best Android Apps of the Week”) and TheNextWeb (“Best Apps in December 2013”).

We chose Italian as the first language after English, since our company has strong roots in the country, and Italian Circlers are among one of the TOP-5 communities on the platform.

Hence, if Italian is your mother tongue, or if you just simply like and know the Italian language, it’s time to check the app out (as long as your phone language settings are set to “Italian”) and let us know what you think.

Get your app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cascaad.circleme&hl

As an Italian would say: “Benvenuti su CircleMe!” and #bewhatyoulike

Our iPhone app gets a fresh restyling and lots of new content!

A fresh new app is ready for you!

As CircleMe grows, now publishing tens of thousands of news per month on any of your interests and passions in life, we thought it was time for some “freshenin’ up” for our iPhone app. So, as of today, you get our latest and greatest iOS app from the Apple Store, here.

What do you get with this new app?

First of all, a new cool redesign. Having heard all the positive feedback about our Android version (which you can see here), we thought to get also our iPhone app a new clean and ‘sexy’ look. Here below you see a couple of screenshots to get you a flavor of it.

What more? You get lot more content, on any one of your passions. We publish close to 1000 stories per day, on any interest that you can think of. And for any story you get information, images, comments by users and more (like concert dates, etc.). In addition, now the content we bring to you is displayed in a much nicer visual feed (which we call the Updates Feed). After having released this feature as an ‘alpha’ in January, we got great feedback from you, optimized it, and now it is available to all!

There are several other features and improvements we added to this version, such as: the ability to filter content by multiple categories (e.g., “show me all the content related to Music and Movies”), an improved user-experience in the Inbox and language sections in Settings (as we approach the distribution of news in different languages).

We hope you’ll appreciate this new version, and keep the feedback coming, always!

CircleMe app ready for Blackberry Users!

We have been working hard to make CircleMe the best tool to keep people updated on their passions and interests in life. As we grew to more than 1 million passions in the database, and more than 25000 news posted a month, it was time to deliver a good product also to the Blackberry community.

“The basic idea behind the project was to create an interest based network that could suggest the right tips at the right time. Now, after a business meeting, a BlackBerry 10 smartphone user can catch the concert of their favorite singer. Thanks to the geo-localization they can also find out that the movie of the year is premiering next month even when they are traveling to another city,” says Giuseppe D’Antonio, our CEO here at CircleMe. We just launched a few days ago and some users, having tried out the app are already expressing good opinions on the work:”Good port, make native to make it interesting.” and “Nice app and nice service! Finally for Blackberry!”.

Blackberry App News CircleMe

Considering the complexities in developing the app of CircleMe for Android (which brings to the mobile world many features present on the web app), the porting from Android to Blackberry technology has been anything but complicated. We were able to port our Android app within few days to the Blackberry world. 🙂

The CircleMe app for BlackBerry smartphones can be customized through different features that make the profile like a personal, unique magazine. The “To Do” feature, for example, allows users to save topics that they want to learn more about, while the “Plant” feature lets you use geo-localization, add events related to a specific interest and share contents and news on a specific place.

With CircleMe users can connect with people that share the same passions by clicking the icon Trust. The app can also be used to send private messages on a specific topic, to send suggestions and tag people in conversations.

As CircleMe continues to integrate with new content partners, the app is a very good tool to keep up to date with everyone of your interests in life.

Keep your eyes on it as we are always working to introduce new nifty features, such as geo-located notifications and automated calendars with events related to your interests.

You can find CircleMe app also for iOS and Android!

What’s new on CircleMe this week!

As you know we have just released a new Registration Process with a better and even more fun user experience.
Recently, thanks to your feedback, we have been working on website’s improvements.
Some simple details that we hope will make things easier for you.

Just to start we have simplified 2 of the 3 basic actions you can do on CircleMe: Like and To-Do. When you find a page you are interested in, you can click:
– on Like so you will receive news regarding that topic, in your activity page
– on To-Do so you will add the the specific page related to your interest to your list of To-Dos. You will be able to see your To-Do list in your profile so it will be easy for you to remember about new things you discover.

Sochi 2014 winter olympics
Of course every time you add a Like or a To-Do, if you want, you can immediately share it on Facebook or Twitter to let your friends and followers know.

We have also received requests regarding the possibility to open and engage more easily in conversations. Now you can do that by clicking on the comments but also on the activity page. When you see that someone has added a picture or made a comment, try to click on it and a conversation on that item will start immediately. There you can add your comments but also tag other people!

Finally, when it comes to your inbox, you’ll now see just 2 sections: notifications and messages. In Notifications you’ll be notified when someone trusts you, or suggests you a page about an interest, or tags you in a conversation. Messages section is where you can send and see messages that other users send you on CircleMe.

Tag to get in touch!

Tagging is now available on CircleMe: now you can engage easily and directly with the users on CircleMe about a specific topic.

It works exactly like you already know: just type ‘@’ followed by the name of the user you want to tag or select it from the drop down list that is shown after you type the first letters. You can do this when you’re posting a story to an item page or you’re commenting to a post.

Tagging on the item page ‘Woody Allen’

The user you have tagged will receive a notification on his/her CircleMe inbox and this will ignite a ‘conversation’ on the item between you and the user/users you’ve tagged.

They may also receive (depending on their settings on CircleMe) a notification to their email address so even if they are not connected on CircleMe in that moment, they will be informed about your tagging once they check their email.

We hope that tagging will make it easier for you to get in touch with people sharing your interests and passions. Use CircleMe to get in touch with like minded people: it’s a good way to find interesting people and make friends or involve in a direct way the people you trust in conversations about interests you have in common!

What are you waiting for? Start using tagging today and if you have any doubts get in touch at support@circleme.com!
