Happy 1st CircleBirthday!

Dear Circlers,

Today is a great day for CircleMe: It’s been 1 year since we launched CircleMe publicly on the 15th of March, 2012! This is a great feat for us, especially considering how difficult it is to create something as innovative as CircleMe that can stand the test of time.

CircleMe's 1st Birthday

CircleMe’s 1st Birthday

It’s been an extraordinary year as you can read in our summary of most notable events for CircleMe and more recently, we were in the Mobile Premier Awards 2013 in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress as one of the top 20 apps in the world!

We wanted to take this chance to thank you for your support with something creative. For this reason, we wanted to share this background image with all our Circlers that you can use in your own desktop: A year of a Galaxy of Likes with CircleMe :-) We hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for your support and happy CircleBirthday!  ;-)

CircleMe one of the Top 10 sites of 2012 according to All My Faves

As we turn the page on our calendars to the month of February, we don’t want to forget CircleMe‘s achievements in 2012. If you subscribe to this blog, you’ll be aware of many of them. However, there is something we hadn’t had the pleasure of sharing yet: CircleMe was selected as one of the Top 10 sites of 2012 on All My Faves.

This was great news for us especially because it was decided by public vote. That’s right: users like you made us one of the top 10 sites of 2012! :-)

AllMyFaves-Best-of-2012-cool-websites

If you’re not familiar with All My Faves yet, we recommend you give it a try: It lists the most popular and useful sites of the world by categories, which is a great way to know ‘what’s hot’ out there. And if you’d like to find out which other 9 sites made it to the top 10 of 2012, you can check them here.

Many thanks for your continuous support and… CircleOn!

A brand new look for item pages!

Every day CircleMe users are finding interesting content about their Likes, both on the activity page and from the item pages themselves. So today we’ve launched something very exciting: New item pages.

More visual and more engaging!

Now when you visit the page for one of your Likes, we’ve made it easy to see all the posts that other CircleMe users have shared on that item with the new item page layout. This is a great way to catch up on the latest news and videos related to your Likes, as well as checking out some of the shared views. As you scroll down the new item pages you’ll find all the content displayed in two columns, making it easier than ever for you to find interesting stories.

Only interested in seeing videos? You can filter the content by category, meaning that clicking on ‘Media’ would just show you all the shared videos.

But that’s not all, it’s now easier than ever to share something on CircleMe! Simply click on the new ‘Post’ button and you can share a view, a link, or a video, all from the same menu.

New posting view

We hope that you all like the new item pages, as you can use them to find and share interesting content and the new posting layout makes it really simple to start a conversation on any item on CircleMe. We’d love to hear what you think about the redesign! Get in touch with us by email at info@circleme.com, or by visiting our Facebook or Twitter accounts.

The latest addition to the CircleMe team!

Hi! It’s James from the CircleMe team. You might remember me as I joined recently and have been keeping our blog updated with all the latest news. Today I’m pleased to announce I’m no longer ‘the new guy’ at CircleMe ;- )

On CircleMe there are hundreds of thousands of Likes, Plants and To-Dos and it’s super-important for us to make sure it’s of the best possible quality for you to enjoy. This is a very important responsibility, which meant we had to find the right person for the role. For this reason, we’re very excited that Anna Maria has decided to relocate from the beautiful city of Paris to join our team in the Milan office!

I could tell you more about our new content manager Anna Maria and her likes since we’ve both been part of the CircleMe community for a long time, however, I thought it would be very fitting for Anna Maria to tell us a bit about herself and why she’s excited to be part of the team.

Anna Maria

Our new Content Manager: Anna Maria

I didn’t discover CircleMe by chance, but because I was looking for a different social network in which passions and interests would be more important than Photoshopped photos and number of friends. I was very excited to finally find a place on the web where one can meet people with similar interests and exchange opinions and I’m very excited to be here in Milan and participating in the CircleMe adventure! I’m been here just three days, but I’ve already understood that my number of Likes is going to rise very quickly; as a content manager I come across interesting items everyday, which I often suggest to my friends.

If you take a look at my CircleMe profile, you’ll see that I mostly have Likes about cinema and movies, plus 80% of my heroes are actors or film directors! But there are also some comic writers (more than half of my books are graphic novels!). Anyway, I think that the most interesting section of my likes is the ‘other’ category; maybe because I’m curious about many things and an expert about none! After all Circleme is the best place for curious people who wants to keep track of many different things at the same time.”

Introducing Plant Guides and our exciting partnership with Cibando

Partnership With Cibando

We know that our users enjoy finding interesting Likes around town using the Plant feature on CircleMe. However, we thought we could make them even more interesting and exciting, so we put our heads to work on improving this feature to help our users discover more high-quality plants.

Plant Guides

Announcing Plant Guides

What we came up with is something ground-breaking for CircleMe: The announcement of ‘Plant Guides’. As you will know, Plants are Likes associated to real-world locations. Thus, ‘Plant guides’ are collections of plants provided by selected partners.

This is a very important moment for CircleMe as it opens the door to the CircleMe ecosystem and potential partnerships, allowing other companies to distribute their content with the fast-growing CircleMe userbase, whilst providing you with more interesting Plants to discover.

Partnership with Cibando

The first partner will be leading restaurant finder app Cibando, which will bring you a collection of the best restaurants in Italy. (You can find out more about this partnership in our Press Center) But that’s not all! We’ve also added 2 more Plant Guides: Art Masterpieces and Boutique shops.

On the CircleMe iPhone app (got the latest version?), navigate to the brand new Plants page from the Menu button and you’ll find all the Plants near you. Now you can select the Guides button and see our 3 new collections.

The Cibando Plant Guide is the tastiest of the 3 as it showcases some of the best restaurants in Italy. It is also the one that excites us the most due to this great partnership, so don’t forget to have a look when you’re not sure where to grab lunch!

The Art Masterpieces collection includes some of the most famous works of art in the world, all planted at the galleries where you can see them. From Whistler’s Mother to The Starry Night, the best Art Masterpieces are now planted on CircleMe!

Finally, the Boutiques Plant Guide will take you on a trip to some of the most exclusive shops around the world, from independent jewelers to high-end tailors, you can find them all in our collection of Boutiques.

We hope Plant Guides help you enjoy CircleMe better, and don’t forget that you too can Plant cool things for others to discover! Not sure how to add a Plant? Don’t worry, our tutorial video will help you out.

Ah! And don’t forget to check out our Twitter and Facebook accounts where you will find the latest CircleMe news :- )

Helping You Get The Most Out Of CircleMe

We want everyone to be able to start circling their Likes and adding Plants and To-Dos on CircleMe. We thought long and hard about how best to show you all how to use all the awesome features on the site, and we decided to make some videos that explain them! We’re going to be using these videos on the site to show how the different features work, so let us know if you have any feedback or improvements :- )

We’d love to hear your thoughts! Send us an email at info@circleme.com and stay tuned to our Twitter and Facebook for more CircleMe updates.

CircleMe goes for gold in the Webit Congress Startup Challenge

We’re really happy to announce that CircleMe has been selected as one of only 21 finalists for the Webit Congress’ Startup Challenge. This is really exciting for us as Webit is one of the busiest and most exciting startup and technology conferences in Europe. The competition takes place at the Webit Congress in Istanbul, Turkey from the 10th to the 11th of October, and we’ll be in attendance :-) You can have a look at some of the other finalists here. Also, you can see our profile and team video here, which shows some of the great people who make CircleMe awesome :-) We’ll let you know how we get on!

An exciting new update for the CircleMe app

We’ve been really busy making sure that the CircleMe app is better than ever. So today we are going to run through some of the features and improvements in the new version of the app.

What are the changes?

  • First of all, it’s quicker than ever to sign up and get started adding your likes, as we have included the ability to sign up with Facebook. Just tap ‘Sign Up with Facebook’ and you’ll be taken to the Facebook app where you are just a press of ‘OK’ away from signing up with CircleMe.

Signing up with Facebook

  • One of the coolest new features is browsing plants on a map straight from the app. This is another great feature of the CircleMe.com site that we have added to the app, and it helps you discover even more likes than before!

  • You can now view your entire inbox and messages from within the app, so get suggesting Likes to other CircleMe users!

  • Not sure who to add to your Trusted network? Well now you can find a list of users you might find interesting right from the CircleMe app! This list shows all like minded people on CircleMe, and trusting them will mean you’ll find even more exciting things to Like.

List of like minded users

  • Stories are now displayed right in the app, no need to open the link in Safari. Our new integrated browser means that reading some of the interesting stories and videos posted on CircleMe is easy to do, just tap!
  • Forgotten your password? D’oh! Don’t worry, just tap ‘Forgot password?’ when signing in and we’ll send you an email letting you reset your password to something a little more memorable.
  • Someone you Trust just added a picture? Or maybe a story? Well now you can vote on almost anything that happens on CircleMe.
  • Little bit confused about how to get started using the app? We’ve included a helpful video that explains just what CircleMe is about when you first sign up.
  • Along with all these great new features, there are lots of smaller bug fixes and improvements to make sure that the CircleMe app is better than ever!

If you have any suggestions about what we should include in the next update, or anything else to do with CircleMe  you can share it with us by commenting on this post, or by contacting us through our Twitter account or Facebook page!

Get more from your likes with Bompiani Editori

CircleMe is all about interests, passions, likes… However, it’s not just about collecting them: It’s about getting more from these likes and being able to enjoy them.

What do we mean by that? It might be enjoying interesting conversations, or finding out about interesting articles related to your likes. Also browsing photos, watching videos, and being able to listen to samples of artists you discover on CircleMe.

But we don’t want to stop there. We want to give you more about what you care about the most. For this reason, we’ve started to work with Bompiani Editori to bring you free chapters of books related to your likes! The first books you’ll be able to enjoy are: “Amy Ma Figlia” by Mitch Winehouse and “L’Amore È La Cura” by Elton John.

Amy WinehouseElton John

How does it work? When you go to the page of either Amy Winehouse or Elton John, on the top right corner you will see a notice indicating that you can download the book. During the next months we’ll be working hard to help you enjoy your likes more, so stay tuned for more news!

A new member of the CircleMe team!

Hi, it’s Javier from the Marketing Team,

As the CircleMe community expands and we keep on adding cool new features, the CircleMe team is growing with talented people that strive to create a great experience for all Circlers. On the other hand, we pride ourselves on caring about and listening to the CircleMe community. So it is a great pleasure for us to announce that our latest addition to the CircleMe team also happens to be a great CircleMe user: James Cook.

James just joined the CircleMe team as a Summer Intern based in our London office. He is very enthusiastic and looks forward to helping grow the CircleMe community and improve the CircleMe experience. But what better than having James Cook tell us a bit more about himself?

James Cook

Our new Summer Marketing Intern: James Cook

“As you can see from my CircleMe profile I’m a real music lover, with 613 likes for music alone. My 3 favorite likes on the site are Led Zeppelin, The Stone Roses and Jimi Hendrix. I’ve been a CircleMe user for a long time, joining when the site was invite-only back in October 2011, so it is a real pleasure to be involved with bringing CircleMe to new users.

For the next few months I’ll be writing blog posts and keeping our Twitter and Facebook accounts up to date with all the latest news. I’ll also try to do my best for the the CircleMe community so I’d really like to hear from you all about your experiences with the site, and also any improvements you may have in mind. You can send me a message through my CircleMe profile. If you have any questions at all please let me know and I’ll be super-happy to answer them. I look forward to talking to you all!”
